1. It’s not a surprise that there are many pickpockets in big cities. Keep your money in a money-belt under your clothing (or somewhere close to your heart ), and don’t carry cameras or other valuables in a bag on your back.

2. If you like your passport, never take it with you. Make photocopies of it. In case of it being stolen it would be very difficult to leave Russia (Unless you want to stay here a bit longer)!

3.  If you have some questions, don’t ask a police officer. Few speak any language but Russian. It will be pretty difficult for you to explain to them what you want. You better choose a young lady; she will most probably speak English and could tell you everything you need. Moreover, she’ll accompany you to the place you’d like to find

4. Traffic jams. Do you know how many people live in Spb? About five million...
And practically every second has a car. There can be some problems with going through this “cars’ crowd”, especially at midday. But there is an alternative – rent a car in the morning, then go to the suburbs or take a walking tour and use metro...

5.  Metro. It’s safe, clean, warm and not expensive. It starts working at 5:45a.m. and finishes at 0:20p.m.
And remember those five million local people? Great! They work and they also want to avoid traffic jams and that’s why they use metro. Rush hours: 7:30a.m. – 10:30a.m. and 4p.m. – 7p.m.

6. Smile as much as possible.
